I was recently a competitor in Round 9 of Battle of the Stitches which used the Trellis Waves stitch. When I started working one of my designs for the round, the idea for this hat came to me and I have to say that I am so in love with how the Trellis Waves Slouch turned out. It came to life exactly how I thought it would and my testers loved the design as well. This is my contribution for Cre8tion Crochet. Be sure to check her out for more great patterns from her and other talented designers.

Here is what they had to say:

“This slouch is a beautiful accessory to any outfit.”

Very easy and quick”

Trellis Waves Slouch Pattern Information

Materials: #1 weight yarn (I used Knit Picks Comfy in Lilac, Lilac Mist and Peapod), G (4.0mm) hook, tapestry/yarn needle, scissors

Stitches and abbreviations: sc – single crochet, hdc – half double crochet, dc – double crochet, tr – treble crochet, lp(s) – loop(s), sp(s) – space(s), st(s) – stitches, hk – hook, yo – yarn over, sl st – slip stitch, sh – shell, ch(s) – chain(s), mc – magic circle, beg 6 dc dec – beginning 6 double crochet decrease, 6 dc dec – 6 double crochet decrease, hdc dec – half double crochet decrease

Special Stitches:

Beginning 6 double crochet decrease (beg 6 dc dec): Ch 2, *yo, insert hk in next st, pull up a lp, yo and pull through 2 lps on hk* 5 times, yo and pull through all lps on hk

6 double crochet decrease (6 dc dec): *yo, insert hk in next st, pull up a lp, yo and pull through 2 lps on hk* 6 times, yo and pull through all lps on hk

Shell (sh): 6 dc in same stitch

First double crochet (First-dc): In stitch indicated, sc without chaining 1, ch 2. First-dc completed.

NOTES:

Beginning ch doesn’t count as stitch unless otherwise noted.

All rounds are joined with a sl st in first st unless otherwise noted.

If you like a more snug fit on the brim, you may want to drop one to two hook sizes for the hdc rounds.

This works up great in other weight yarns, just keep in mind that it will be bigger if you don’t change hook size.
