Free Crochet Pattern – Triangles 6″ Square

It’s my turn to host the pattern for the #MysteryLapghanCAL2015! I have really come to love this stitch and hope that you enjoy this free crochet pattern for my Triangles 6″ square.

Skill Level: Easy

Yarn: #4 weight (I used Lion Brand Heartland in Olympic on my sample)


Yarn

Hook: I (5.5mm)

Gauge: 1 triangle set is approximately 1 inch tall and 1 inch wide blocked. If you’re checking size before blocking, a triangle will be a little less than an inch tall and wide for an estimate if it will come out the correct size.

General Supplies:

Tapestry needle

Blocking mat and pins (or blocking supplies of choice)

 

Stitches and abbreviations:

ch(s): chain

hk: hook

sk: skip

sp(s): space(s)

st(s): stitch(es)

sc: single crochet

hdc: half double crochet

dc: double crochet

tr: treble crochet

Notes:

This pattern is written in US terms.

I crochet tight so please keep that in mind as you work this pattern.

Triangles Square Edited wm

PATTERN

Row 1: Ch 22, sc in 2nd ch from hk, *ch 3, sk 3 chs, sc in next* across. <6 sc, 5 ch3 sps>

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *ch 4, (tr, dc, hdc) in ch3 sp, sc in next st* across <5 triangles>

Row 3: Ch 5, turn, sc in top of ch 4 (This is at the beginning of the triangle before the first tr), *ch 3, sc in top of ch 4* across to last st. Tr in last st.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st and next, *ch 4, (tr, dc, hdc) in ch3 sp, sc in next st* across to ch 5. (Hdc, dc, tr) in ch5 sp.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *ch 3, sc in top of ch 4* across to last st. Ch 3, tr in last st.

Row 6-11: Repeat Row 2-5 ending on a row 3 repeat. You will repeat 2-5 once, then repeat 2 & 3 once.

Row 12: Ch 1, turn, sc in same and next, *ch 3, sc in next st* across to ch 5. Ch 2 then sc in ch 5 sp. At this point, my square was approximately 5×5 by the way that I stitch.

EDGING: This round can be worked with sc or dc if needed to obtain the correct size.

Ch 1, turn, hdc in same, 2 hdc in ch 2 sp, hdc in next, *3 hdc in ch 3 sp, hdc in next st* across row, hdc in last st (21 sts at this point). Hdc in corner and turn to work along edge. 21 hdc evenly along edge. Hdc in corner and turn to work along bottom. 21 hdc placing sts in the beginning ch. Hdc in corner and turn to work along edge. 21 hdc evenly along edge and place 1 hdc in corner. Invisible finish. <88 sts>

FINISHING:

Block to 6 inches square.
